Where Education Meets Fun

North Mercer RIII is located in Mercer, Missouri. It is one of only two schools in the county, the other being Princeton RV. The school may appear small, with a student population of roughly 193 students, in grades Kindergarten through Twelfth grade. But with its very small student base that gives the students a 12:5 student to teacher ratio, which is very important for one on one learning. Any class you can find offered at any larger public school, you will also find at North Mercer. For its Junior and Senior students, North Mercer also offers college classes, which are offered over the Interactive Television System.

But what sets North Mercer apart from other schools, is the fun that they incorporate into the learning experience. Every teacher, as well as the administrators, comes up with their own individual way of enhancing learning via fun. A few small examples include, the annual fruit car derby for elementary students, that is put on by the High School Science Club, the Christmas Fun Day, which falls on the last day prior to Christmas Break, and the last day of school picnic, which the administrators host for the students to show their appreciation.

The faculty and administration at North Mercer make it a very family oriented environment. With the small class size’s it is easy for the students and teachers to build a some what personal relationship, and encourage learning. Every student has the opportunity to ask the teacher questions on a one on one level, as well as get help with their homework before or after school.

Another program that North Mercer offers is an after school program, in which children from Kindergarten through the sixth grade can participate in. Through this program, the children get an extra 2 hours (from 3pm till 5pm) in a learning environment. During the after school program, the children participate in games, do activities, enjoy a snack, and have a bit of free time. The after school program, is yet another way in which North Mercer adds fun into the educational experience.

North Mercer offers a wide variety of extra curricular activities for the Junior High and High School aged students as well. Some of these activities include: basketball, softball, track, Future Business Leaders of America, as well as Future Teachers of America. This is just a brief overview of the programs offered. In fact, in addition to these programs North Mercer also offers ten other such types of activities.

So in conclusion, if you are looking for an environment in which your children will thrive on learning, because the education process is fun, then North Mercer may just be the place to send your children. Not only will your children thrive on learning, they will also get the one on one attention, which is imperative for the education of children. North Mercer is a very warm and welcoming school, and will educate your children, and send them out into the world, well adjusted adults.
