Where to Celebrate Oktoberfest in Frederick Maryland

Come to the Frederick Fairgrounds in Frederick Maryland on September 30 Noon – 10:00 PM October 1, 2006 Noon – 6:00 PM. Celebrate Oktoberfest and help support Community Living, Inc, an organization that helps people with developmental disabilities.

Frederick is the fourth largest city in Maryland with a population of about 60,000, It is easily accessible from Virginia and Washington, D.C., so if you plan to be around Frederick Maryland , why not make the Oktoberfest part of your plans. Have a good time, and help a worth while charity at the same time.

This is definitely a family-oriented Oktoberfest, with reasonable prices and activities for all ages. Admission is $5.00 per person, Children 11 and under FREE
Parking is free. But please give a donation to the young people who are donating their time to direct traffic. It will be used to support their groups. Do you have Dirndl or Lederhosen (it has to be the real thing and the whole outfit to qualify)? If you do, wear it to the Frederick Maryland Oktoberfest and get free admission. Pets are not allowed, and that is a good thing. No matter how much you enjoy bringing your pet everywhere with you, crowds of unfamiliar people are very scary to animals. You do not want to spend a good deal of your time worrying about and watching your pet.

Along with the regular entertainment, there will be contests for the brave to participate in. So if there is one you think you can compete in get up your nerve and go at it. How about one of these:

This one is for both men and women. Do you think you have strong arms? Do you win at arm wrestling? If so, try this one on for size who can hold a beer mug with an arm straight out, parallel to the floor, the longest? The contest is held on Saturday and Sunday. Oh, did I mention the mug is full, not empty?

The Frederick Maryland Polka Contest After watching the professional dances, you should have picked up enough tips to give this one a try. Sign-up in the Festhall. Saturday and Sunday.

With this one going on, it is a good thing dogs are not allowed Try your hand at the German-American Idol Yodeling Contest It will be held all over the grounds on both days.

After all that dancing and yodeling, you will have a big appetite and thrust to match. There will something to satisfy everyone German-recipe foods, including: Pretzels, Hot Dogs, Hamburgers, Cheeseburgers, Mister Ed’s Peanuts, Candy and More TCBY Roasted German Almonds from Pleasures of the Palate, Bratwurst, Strudel, Knockwurst, Potato Salad, Sauerkraut
Beverages include Specially brewed Oktoberfest beers from Barley & Hops, and Brewers Alley
German Wines, Non-Alcoholic Oktoberfest Beer, McCutcheon’s Apple Cider, Soft Drinks and Bottled Water

The children will have their own Oktoberfest under their own tent complete with a Root Beer Garden There will be special entertainment including a Punch and Judy show, their own versions of the contests, the only difference is they do the Oktoberfest chicken dance instead of the polka. Hold on we are not done yet, There will also be arts and crafts, face painting, a climbing volcano, a caterpillar maze, Inflated slides and Moonbounces
