Where to Celebrate Oktoberfest in Tempe, Arizona

Tempe Arizona is a suburb of Phoenix and home of Arizona State University. If you come, be prepared for hot, dry weather. And a good time. The people of Tempe Arizona know how to throw a good party and the annual Oktoberfest is no exception. It is well organized, with activities for all members of the family.

So, why don’t you come to Tempe Arizona and join in this years Oktoberfest. The dates this year are October 6, 7 & 8, 2006 at the Tempe Town Lake and to get you off to a good start, admission is free. The hours are Friday:5 pm to Midnight, Saturday:,10 am to Midnight,Sunday:10 am to 6 pm. So if you cannot see and do everything in one day, you have two more to make it a fun filled weekend for the whole family. The Oktoberfest benefits the Tempe Sister City Programs.

First, before we look at the fun times, it is time for the rules. They are there to assure that everyone has a good time, and they will be enforced, so read up on them Pets are not allowed. And that is a good thing. Pets and a large crowd full of strangers just do not mix. The animal will be scared and that can lead to all kinds of things. The Oktoberfest kicks off on Friday with a parade of 180 children carrying flags from around the world. There will be three stages providing music of all kinds each day almost continuously. How are you on the Chicken Dance? You better get your practice in and bring your dancing shoes. One of the biggest happenings is the raffle. Top prize is a trip for 2 to Germany, and for $1 a ticket how can you not buy one Or try 6 for $5. Who now you have to win something sometime. Even if you don’t get the top prize, there are 7 other prizes including a Bavarian Beer Stein from Regensburg, Germany and a Waterford crystal vase from Carlow, Ireland. Wouldn’t one of them make the best souvenir ever. As a matter of fact so would the other great prizes.

How would you kike to have one of theses items Breakfast for four on the set of the FOX 10 morning show??? A one year supply of Pepsi? A Pepsi Vending Machine? Dinner with Tempe Mayor Hugh Hallman? A two night stay at Bison Ranch in Overgaard? A kayak? Gift Certificates for some of the valley’s best restaurants and golf courses. Tickets to sporting events including a Suite at the ASU versus U of A game! Autographed sports memorabilia and many different types of jewelry Well any one or all of them can be yours for a winning bid in the silent auction. The holidays are fast approaching, Wouldn’t it be just grand if you could win one of these for a present for that special someone. Or for yourself. You know you deserve a special treat.

All this activity, plus the hot dry heat of Tempe is going to make you mighty thirsty. And if you are in the mood for a beer, you will have quite a choice, There will be beers not only from the Us and Germany but also from Ireland, France, Japan, Belgium, Italy, Scotland, England, and the South Pacific. It could take three days just to get through the beer tents, If you are the designated driver, and I hope you do have one with you, or if you are not into beer, don’t worry there is plenty for you also including 180 Energy Drink and non alcoholic beers.

And now onto the kids. They have their own Kinderfest at Oktoberfest, but grownups are allowed in too. Like rides how about giving theses rides a try. Do you think you can outride the kids?
