Where to Find Free Landscaping Ideas

OK, you done made your mind up. Your yard is in desperate need of a makeover! Time for some landscaping to help it out, but where do you get ideas from? Sure check out your local bookstore that is stocked with magazines on landscaping. Pay $5, $10 or even more to take the book home and still come out with no idea on how to get started or what to do. Why pay for something when usually with the Internet information is free! Use that to your advantage!

I set out one day on the Internet in searching for landscaping designs, but always came across websites that wanted me to join up with a “small” fee for their information. I got so tired of it until one day I was telling a friend of mine what I was going through. She advised me to check out Squidoo, so I did. Finally a website in full detail with information. Yes, you have to sign up for an account, but it is FREE! This website offers any type of landscaping project you can think of from backyard lighting, commercial landscaping, to concrete landscaping. They site gives full “how to” detail on a project that will fit your needs, and budget to boot. With videos, pictures, links, and comments from other members of the site! I really have enjoyed gathering information from this site, and it has become so helpful to me. I hope it does the same for you.

Another great place to get ideas from is check your local events. Most towns always have workshops going on. In workshops, that are usually free, you are able to get hands on with projects people have come up with. Sometimes this is the best way to create a great design, when you are able to practice before you put your whole body into it. Also with workshops, you usually get a professional teaching you the techniques, and face to face contact with other people and their ideas! Being with other people allows you to exchange your thoughts and ask questions free of charge!

Neither one of these ideas sound good for you? Still looking for free landscaping ideas? Get in your car and drive around. Most of my best ideas have come from looking at other peoples yards. I even have gone so far as snapping a picture or two while driving by to give me a better memory of what I have seen. And it’s not at all uncommon for me if I see a yard that I want to recreate, and there is someone standing outside in it, to ask them about their design. Most people will fell flattered by how much of your attention it has drawn. Didn’t you ever hear copying is the best for of flattering?

I know that last step may take some guts that most people don’t have, and if you are one of them then I advise you not to do it, but if you do still one more idea then maybe this one will suit you. Go down to your local nursery and take the advise from the employees there. These people are full of ideas, and the ideas that you need, hence why they work at a nursery. Most nursery workers will offer you advise, tips, and even give you a step by step guide on how, when, where, and what to do with your landscaping. They may even suggest that workshop in your local town that would be extremely helpful.

Another great idea is message boards on the Internet. There you will find specific groups that fit your desired need in landscaping.

Information that you need is out there for free. You have to be willing to be patient sometimes to find it. Always remember though, why pay for something when you can get it for free though, right?
