Michelle Rodriguez is an up and coming young actress who is hitting theaters near you. Michelle Rodriguez was born on July 12, 1978 in Bexas County, Texas. Rodriguez’s mother Carmen was from the Dominican Republic and her father Rafael was Puerto Rico. Her unique heritage makes her a good actress to play the roles of many different characters. In 1986 her parents got divorced.
Michelle Rodriguez was raised as a Jehovah’s witness and has ten half siblings. Michelle dropped out of high school when she was 17 but later on in her life she got her GED.
In the year 2000 she debuted in an independent film called “Girlfight.” Rodriguez had to beat out 350 other actresses to get the part. In the film she played the role of a boxer who was troubled by her agression. Rodriguez did so well in the film that it paved the way for her to get offers to be in other star films.
Tthe next year she starred in the “Fast and Furious” as the role of a woman named Lefty. In 2002 she played the role of Rain in Resident Evil. In 2002 she was in Blue Crush as Eden and the next year she played a huge role in “Swat” with Samuel Jackson as she starred as Chris Sanchez as a member of the elite SWAT unit. This year she has starred in BloodRayne in the role of Katrina. In 2002 she gave a voice over in the viedo game Halo 2.
Rodriguez is blessed be her good looks as she was included by “Stuff” magazine in 101 of the sexiest women and in a Maxim issue of the Sexiest Women.
In 2001 while on the set of the Fast and the Furious she dated Vin Diesel. Her other hobbies include inline skating and the piano.
Rodriguez has gone through a lot of legal trouble in her career. In March of 2002 she was arrested for assaulting her roommate. In July of 2002 she left the scene after hitting a motorist. On November 4 she was charged with speeding with Under the Influence of Alcohol. In June of 2004 she served 48 hours in jail after pleading no contest to each of the charges against her. She then had to do community service at a hospital and take a 3 month alcohol program while under probation. In 2005 she was fined for speeding several times while shooting “Lost” in Hawaii. On Deember 1 of 2004 she was pulled over for speeding again and was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol. She chose to spend 5 days in jail instead of spending 240 hours of community service. Afterwards she had to spend 60 days in prison and another 30 days of community service and alcohol treatment program.
Currently there are reports that Rodriguez wants to move out of the United States to France. Since her character on the television series “Lost” was killed in an episode, she hasn’t had any work since.
