Why I Can’t Live Without My Hewlett Packard Pavilion Personal Computer
What other device does a person have that can allow him to keep personal bank records, online or not, and to update those records quickly, play games, earn a second income, communicate with someone in China or Texas for free, make Christmas letters to mail out at the holiday season, file federal or state income tax returns quickly, or pay bills without using postage? Those are only some of the things my Hewlett Packard Pavilion personal computer allows me to do. What would I do without it?
My wife and I bought the personal computer primarily for such things as keeping track of our bank records, having a second set of books for those records, and having a system to verify whether or not our hand written record of our bank transactions was correct. The second reason was to allow me to do freelance writing for extra income. It is good for those things and so much more.
The personal computer comes with a Windows 98 operating system and Office 2002 office products-Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint. Because I was in college, we upgraded to Office XP. My Hewlett Packard Pavilion has 63 MB of RAM and came with a Microsoft Money system, which we use to enter the record of each bank record, and the system will help us check our math quickly and balance our monthly bank statement much more quickly. Even though we are not using it for that, it would allow us to keep track of our credit cards, how to spend to be able to pay them off, and how much of our money goes for each category of spending. Our personal computer also has many other features. I will mention only three. It came with a set of games that includes FreeCell, a card game similar to Solitaire; Hearts, Minesweeper, and Solitaire. I will also mention that it. It came with a CD drive that allows me to listen to books or my favorite Christian music. It also came with Notepad, a type of program that one could use to design Web pages, and I did use it for that when I was in college.
Microsoft Word can be used to design advertisements, to make letters with pictures, for simple Word Processing, and for so much more. I used it to do homework when I was in college. I also use it to design Christmas letters with a picture, and we mail those at Christmas, instead of store bought Christmas cards. The Excel spreadsheet program was used for college and could be used for business records and for quick math for them or for any kind of personal banking records. It, too, could be used to earn a second income. The PowerPoint program was used for college and could be used to design a slide show for a variety of reasons. The Access program is a database program that can keep a huge variety of records for a variety of reasons.
As valuable as the computer is as it was purchased, another valuable feature is that it allows me to add features and games. One of my favorite is Madden 2001, an NFL game that allows me to coach my own football team and feel as though I am on the field. I also have a program that allows me to write songs. I have a game system on my computer that allows me to play pool, checkers, chess, to do crossword puzzles, and has countless other features.
One of the most valuable features of my Hewlett Packard personal computer is that it allows me to have the Internet. Because of the Internet, I can play games online, such as Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune, and countless others. It allowed me to chat online with my nephew, for free, while he was working in China, with my sister in Texas, and with co-workers, and my boss, when I once had a job that allowed me to work at home.
My Hewlett Packard Pavilion personal computer has allowed me to earn hundreds of dollars of extra income doing freelance writing online for various websites. For the right people, there is a lot of clerical and other work out there to be found too. I once was a freelance writer newspaper correspondent and had to use a typewriter and mail stories in. It is so much faster, however, to type on a computer and send stories in online, however.
The only things I would change would be to add more memory, so the computer would operate faster and to remove the glitch that some Windows 98 systems, including mine, have, that sometimes causes them to crash and to have to be rebooted to be able to use.
I don’t know what I would do without my Hewlett Packard Pavilion personal computer.
