Why You Should Visit Tulsa, Oklahoma

Tulsa is located in northeastern Oklahoma, right in the heart of green country. The city offers a temperate climate. Like the old saying goes, “If you don’t like the weather in Oklahoma, just wait a minute.” Tulsa is a city that surprises visitors with a feeling of southern, eastern, and western all at once. We’re big enough to have everything you need, but small enough to make you feel right at home. Here you will have a great experience a delightful mix of rich culture, colorful history, terrific shopping, and a lively nightlife.

If you have kids, or you are just a kid at heart, the Tulsa Zoo has wonderful exhibits with lots of animals. It was voted America’s Favorite Zoo. Back by popular demand, the Tulsa Zoo has the Wings of Wonder which is an interactive butterfly garden. The butterfly garden allows guests to walk through a lush garden setting with hundreds of butterflies and moths representing over twenty North American species. The zoo is located on 46th Street North right in the middle of Mohawk Park.

If art is your passion you should explore some of Tulsa’s nationally recognized museums, such as Gilcrease Museum, which contains the world’s largest and most comprehensive collection of fine art, artifacts and archives of the American West. Philbrook Museum of Art was once a home to a millionaire oilman. The museum is an Itialian-style villa that is filled with Italian renaissance art, ancient and classical pieces and extensive Native American collections.

For those that are into the bar scene, you may want to visit Brookside. It is located on South Peoria Avenue from 31st Street to 51st Street in Midtown. The area features more than 35 restaurants and nightspots ranging from fast food to find dining and just about any cuisine you desire. Brookside also has one-of-a-kind shops with many unique gifts to buy your loved ones while you are visiting Tulsa.

Tulsa has 2 main shopping malls which are Woodland Hills Mall and Promenade Mall. Woodland Hills is the most popular and biggest mall in Tulsa. It is located at 7021 S. Memorial Drive in South Tulsa. You can get there by taking Highway 169 south and exit on 71st street and turn right. You will see Woodland Hills on your right hand side. It has stores like JC Penny, Sears, Dillards, Foley’s, Gadzooks, Hot Topic, Express, Gap, a candy shop, and many other stores. Inside the mall you will also find many different little fast food restaurants located in the upper level of the mall. On 71st street there is also many fine dining restaurants, upscale stores, and fast food restaurants. Chuck E. Cheese and Incredible Pizza are located on 71st street also, which are both fun places to take your children. They will have a blast!

The other mall which is Promenade Mall is located at 4107 S. Yale Avenue. To get to Promenade from the Tulsa International Airport take Highway 11 south to Highway 244 east to Highway 169 South. Approximately 2 miles exit onto I-44 West. Take the 41st Street/Sheridan Road exit going west. Tulsa Promenade is on the south side of 41st Street about 1/2 mile. Promenade has stores like Claire’s, Gap, Buckle, Hot Topic, JC Penny, Limited Too, Lids, Treasures, Dillard’s, American Eagle Outfitters, Footlocker, Finish Line, FootAction USA, Bath and Body Works and many more. They also have restaurants on the upper level.

Jenks, Oklahoma which is right outside of South Tulsa has an amazing aquarium that everyone should check out.

Everything you need you will find in Tulsa and we think you will be pleased by our graceful, tree-lined neighborhoods, family events, the nightlife, beautiful parks, and spectacular places to shop. While you are here you should visit Jamil’s steakhouse. It’s located at 2833 East 51st. They are said to have some of the best steaks in town and definitely the friendliest service.
