Why You Should Watch the Biggest Loser
Why you should watch The Biggest Loser? The NBS show which had kind of a shaky start when it first started airing, with some over weight viewers protesting its method of “inspiring” constants, is no longer the show just for people struggling with their weight. If you had that chocolate cake while on a diet or if you are looking to keep off those pounds you shed off after months of workout, this is your show. The Biggest Loser inspires viewers to stay fit and healthy, not just be skinny and sexy.
This season’s The Biggest Loser premiered on 20 September with 50 contestants, one from every state. After the first round only 36 were selected to continue in their quest of losing the most weight and gaining the title of “The Biggest Loser”. Jen from Minnesota was the first one to be eliminated.
The 36 contestants all have different stories behind their struggle to maintain a healthy weight. They are regular people, with family, jobs and face the everyday temptations. Fries, burgers, and cake you name it. What you struggle with, the same troubles them too. It is easy to relate to their experience and look at their struggle to be The Biggest Loser as your own quest. Unlike Celebrity Fit Club, where celebrities try to lose weight, with all their star tantrums and “I don’t deserve this” attitude, contestants in The Biggest Loser are genuine people who want to be their fro themselves and their family, not to get media attention and 10 minutes of fame.
I am not recommending this show just because I am a fan of the show; I am recommending The Biggest Loser because I believe that anyone who is trying to lose weight or maintain their weight can benefit from the show. How? Let me narrate my story.
This May I visited my family back in . Meeting friends and family, I didn’t pay attention to what I was eating or how much. I came back 20 pounds heavier; I could not fit into my old clothes. I bought some new clothes and forgot about the extra weight. It was a mistake.
The weight I had gained concentrated around my belly, giving me bad back aches. I could not sit cross legged on floor and the middle section of my body was not as flexible as it used be.
Then I decided to do something about it. For last four months I have tried four different diets, substituted regular meals with shakes and I have been drinking pots of coffee to suppress my appetite. They all failed. Two weeks back I found out that I had actually gained 10 pounds while on a diet. Why? Because I did not exercise. I believed so much on these quick fixes that I totally ignored the facts about dieting. And with all the coffee I was drinking, I was dehydrated and steps away from being a caffeine addict.
Frustrated, I though I will never to lose weight and will have live with the back aches and stiffness. But then I heard about this show, The Biggest Loser. I went to their website at NBC.com and read about the past episodes and the contestants. They did lose weight without any quick fixes. They ate well and exercised. When the show premiered on August 20, I was ready to begin my quest to lose weight with the contestants.
We are swamped by these quick fixes to lose weight. But the Biggest Loser shows that with exercise and proper dirt you can lose weight without subjecting your body to unnecessary chemicals and deprivations. This why you should watch The Biggest Loser at NBC. The show airs every Wednesday at 8:00 PM ET.
