Working Twelve Hour Ritating Shifts
Have you ever wondered what it would like to work for a company that makes paper products? Have you ever wondered why your parents told you to stay in college? Or have you ever wondered why you didn’t throw your parents advice to the wind and follow your own path in life? In this article I will describe in great detail, the positives and negatives of working in the paper manufacturing industry.
To begin with, there are many benefits to working in paper mill:
1. Free paper products, instead of bonuses (who needs that pesky money anyways, bring on the free toilet paper!)
2. An unending supply of paper related products for personal use while on the clock; though women tend to come out ahead here. (including pads and tampons)
3. Hour long lunches, and two fun filled thirty minute breaks!
4. There are convenient non-sheltered smoking areas! (Out in the blistering heat of summer, or the freezing winds of winter!)
5. School re-imbursement! (Then again with twelve-hour rotating shifts, on-line is the only way this is possible.)
6. Reduce the trips made back and forth to work! ( with the two on two off, or three on three off type schedule)
7. You can make appointments for doctor visits during the day! (Needless to say with this type of schedule, you’ll be sicker more often than most people!)
8. Fewer work days during the year! (Though the days are twelve hours long!)
9. Free steal toe boots or shoes! (Oh come on, you know how comfortable they are!!)
10. You too can avoid pesky family and friend get-togethers! (Why would you want a social life outside work anyhow?!)
11. Free uniforms! (No need to worry about the fashion contest at work! Everyone looks just as pitiful as you do!)
12. If you’re a woman there is no need to carry on womanly conversations! (You’ll be hard pressed to find another woman working anywhere near you!)
13. The pay is very good! (Since you don’t have a social life, and your spouse has probably left to be with someone who has reasonable work hours!)
14. The plant offers heating and air-conditioning! (Though not for the comfort of their employees, certain temperatures must be kept to retain positive run-ability issues with raw products.)
15. You get to bond more closely with your means of transportation and your bed! (Since that is where you will be spending most of your life!)
16. You will not watch countless hours of television! (Unless you are able to see through your eye-lids!)
Secondly, there are sadly some negative aspects to working in a paper mill:
1. Lack of sleep. (Who needs sleep anyways?)
2. Lack of interaction with your spouse or children. (Who need love and social interaction?)
3. You’ve tried every wake up food, beverage or method known to man!( hey variety is the spice of life!)
4. You actually forget what it’s like to have a life outside of work!
5. Low morale (“I forget. Are there actually happy people in this world?)
6. You are more susceptible to falling asleep at the wheel of your car driving home! (You needed some time off anyways!)
7. And last but not least: Your brain reverts back to that of a kindergartener, from lack of stimulating surroundings!
It should be noted not all people are affected so negatively. ( Just 99.9%)
