Your Pet and Your Apartment

We all love our pets, that’s definitely no big secret. That’s why many people face the huge problem of finding an apartment where their beloved pet is welcome. It’s often thought by landlords that pets can be a liability, could cause damage to the apartment, or be a problem to other tenants. The best thing to do is check with the landlords if pets are allowed, and if so if there are any specific rules which need to be adhered to. Obviously, you need to go for pet friendly apartments. Don’t worry, there are an abundance of such places out there on the market.

Most of these apartments will offer complete care of your pet for a set monthly cost. These plans are designed to keep your pet safe and well-cared for, with many offering areas where your pet can be exercised and played with.

CATS: Caring for an indoor cat can be a very tricky business indeed. They can often be very difficult to control. However, with pet friendly apartments you will often find certain features to help. Many will include high windows, scratching posts, and hard wood floors to help with the stains. Other features will include balcony areas designed to keep your cat safe from falling.

DOGS: Exercise is key when it comes to dogs, so a pet friendly apartment should offer a bigger yard where this can be done. Obviously, a safe balcony area is great, but dogs need to be walked at least once a day. You can also be up against the problem of a destructive or unruly dog; unfortunately there’s not really an apartment equipped for this, but you could always hunt for a dog-sitting or pet care company to look after your animal whilst you are out during the day. The usual problems, such as barking and whining or other disruptive things can also always be reduced/ceased altogether by giving them formal training.

OTHER PETS: Other animals, such as birds, fish, or perhaps reptiles don’t pose as much of a problem as dogs or cats, but there are apartments out there where your pet can be routinely and regularly checked up on or fed.

It’s rare that you’ll find a neighbour or landlord that complains because of a pet, but if you are looking for a new home, be sure to consider that there are apartments that can help care and look after your pet, making the job a whole lot easier for you.
