Return to the witch’s hut north of the hills to get more medicine if you need it. The shaman inside will have the Magic Powder for you if you gave the mushroom to her assistant outside.

Now head back toward the Sanctuary. On the hillside just west of the Sanctuary is a pile of five rocks. Dash at it with the Sprint Shoes to destroy it and open the cave to get a heart piece inside.

Now go south to the quarrelling brothers’ house. Bomb the sealed wall to get through to the other side. Outside the other end you’ll find the maze game – if you reach the man at the other end in fifteen seconds, you’ll win a heart piece. Taking the outside path along the trees is the fastest way to go. You could have tried this in the first trip to the village, but it’s much easier with the Sprint shoes.

Go back to Link’s house and take the south path to the marsh. You can get a lot of treasure in the tall grass and bushes and can now plow through it by dashing. Take the path at the southeast end of the marsh to Lake Hylia and follow the lake shore all the way to the ice cave. Bomb the cracked wall near the cave entrance to open the second door and find the Icerod inside.

Return to the swamp. The biggest treasure is near the swamp shrine. Enter the shrine and push the blocks to get tot the next room Pull the right lever to open the flood gates. When you leave the shrine, the water outside will be drained and you can get a heart piece. Now, head west of the swamp to the desert.

Once you enter the desert, follow the hillside north until you reach the cave. After talking the old man inside bomb the south wall in his room to find another heart piece. Now head west through the desert until you get to the temple. Use the Book of Mudora to read the ancient writing and open the path to the Desert Palace.

Watch out for the laser statues in this dungeon as their beams cause much damage. Hide behind anything solid you can find to block the beams. You should also watch out for all the monsters that come out of the sand.

Take the left path at the top of the main entry room and go through the door at the end. The pot behind the unlighted torches in the next room hides a switch that will reveal a chest with the map. Go back through the door you came in and go left. The north room you’ll see has a key that you get by dashing into the torch it’s resting on. Go back to the path you first took in the dungeon and this time go east and south. Open the locked door at the east end.

In the next room, get the compass from the chest and defeat the monsters to open the north door. Make your way past the steel balls and get the big key at the end of the room. Now go all the way back to the northwest end and take the door we passed on last time. In this room, the single pot on the upper left side has the switch to open the doors. The big chest in the next room has the power glove. Go back to the hallway and head south this time. In the southwest corner you’ll find a door that leads to an exit out of the dungeon.

Follow the hillside south of the exit until you get to a heart piece. If you’ve gotten all the hearts you can so far, your life meter should be at seven. Now head north behind the main gates and you’ll see the cave in the cliff side. With the Power Glove you can lift the rocks to get in. En the entry room, push the middle block on the right side to open the north door. In the next room the tiles will lift off the floor and shoot at you. Stay near the doorway and destroy each tile as it comes to you.

Once they stop, the pot in the lower left corner has the key to open the stairway. The path will be simple for a while – defeat the monsters in the next room to open the shutters, and lift the pots to find the keys for locked doors. You’ll eventually come to a dead end with a Cyclops monster and four torches After taking out the monster with arrows, light each torch with your lamp and the wall will move to reveal the big door to the boss monsters.

The Lanmolas leap out of the ground and then dive back under. Avoiding the clumps of dirt when they burst out may be harder than dodging the monsters themselves. The must be hit in the head; using your spinning sword attack is best. Once the Lanmoas are gone, get the Heart Container and the Pendant of Power.
