The ZoomBuilt landscape lights make a great way to light your way at night while keeping the light tucked away during daylight. The ZoomBuilt lights come in two models with one having solar panels on two sides of the retractable light while the other uses a transformer for power.
The ZoomBuilt lights are inserted in the ground or almost flush with a deck to provide a light that is out of the way during daylight. The light works well and is easy to install by simply digging a small hole or drilling a hole for deck mounting.
I installed the solar panel version of the ZoomBuilt in my front yard with a small hole dug into my rock garden then settled rocks around it to make it flush with the area. The light is turned on by a small switch under the battery cover which has a rubber seal for waterproofing.
The light will not emerge until it gets dark but to test and take pictures I taped some black cardboard over the panels where the light sensors are. The light takes a few seconds to fully rise and then will stay that way until the sensors see light and then the light pole will retract.
The last few days have been rainy here and the ZoomBuilt light had no problem with getting wet other than possibly not retracting fully. After a good soaking the light does rise but does not retract fully the next morning so a pull and push is required to reset it back into the tube.
The light has continued to work well and other than a little resetting after a hard rain I have not had any problems with it. The ZoomBuilt works well and has been working without many problems since installing it in my front walk but on occasion has failed to light my walk.
I think when it has been rather dark the battery does not have enough power to both run the motor for retracting and the light. This has only occurred after days of rain and very cloudy weather but the next day the light works fine.
I Think the light has a failsafe mdoe where the light will pause in functioning when water or even snow blocks or fill the light. The center tube is exposed to water going in so I would think it has to contain some sort of fail-safe in the event something blocks it or water enters the center tube.
The ZoomBuilt Retractable Landscape light does a great job of lighting your way in the dark and retracting in the daylight to provde an unobtrusive walk or patio light. I highly recommend the ZoomBuilt Retractable Light for a great landscape light for your home or workplace.
