About University College London

University College London is a prestigious institution working under the body of University of London. The college is the largest body that is affiliated with University of London and it was established in 1826, which makes it the oldest college of the university. It is a public sector university and was the first institution that was based in London. The main purpose of this institute was to build a secular atmosphere and to welcome students from all parts of the world regardless of their gender, or religion. UCL currently has 100 departments that belong to ten different faculties. University College London has also produced 21 Nobel Prize winners and these qualities place UCL amongst the world’s top universities in the world. UCL currently has more than 648 professors along with more than 4000 research and academic staff. More than 70 % of students studying in the university belong to 140 different countries, making it a global institution. According to QS World University Ranking 2011, UCL is placed at number 7th spot.

    How to get to the University


    By Tube


    The nearest tube station which is located about 0.2 miles away is Goodge Street. On leaving the station, head northwest on Tottenham Court road towards Tottenham Street. After about 150 feet turn right onto Torrington Place and keep walking for 0.1 miles, then turn left onto Gower Street. You will be able to locate the university on your right. View Map


    By Bus


    If you wish to get to the university by bus then Torrington Place stop is situated in fornt of the university and it serves bus numbers 10, 14, 24, 29, 73, 134, N5, N20 and N29.
