Amazon to Launch Five Or Six New Tablets
According to Demos Parneros, President of U.S. Retail for Staples, Amazon is deliberately working on five or six new mobile devices.
In order to outperform Samsung and Apple, the online retail will soon introduce five or six new tablet models, including a 10-inch model, Parneros said.
It seems Amazon wants to make its footprints in the mobile market and will emerge as a potential competitor of mobile giants such as Samsung, Apple and HTC.
Rumors are already circulating regarding the tentative launch of Kindle Fire 2 in August. Some sources even claim that the production of Kindle Fire 2 is almost done and is set to have around 2 million units ready in the beginning of August. But the recent news about the launch of six new tablets has eventually amazed the tech world.
Amazon’s current Kindle Fire is not highly appreciated in the tablet industry. Priced at $200, the tablet only has 8GB internal memory, a Wi-Fi feature, and does not even have a camera. The device is equipped with a heavily customized version of Android 2.3, which is particularly built to get digital content like movies, books, and magazines from Amazon’s online store. It seemed like a considerable deal initially, but with the recent launch of Google Nexus 7 that runs on the latest version of Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and also has a front-facing camera for video chat, Kindle Fire faced a severe loss in its market share.
No representative from Amazon has yet commented on the new tablets rumor. However, the news has undoubtedly come from a very reliable source. As we know Staples is believed to be Amazon’s retail partner, and according to Grapevine, the company might be aware of Parneros’ intentions to leak the information and may be Amazon wanted him to do this.
Well, this is just our own speculation, but let’s sees how Amazon is going to react on the current situation.
