At&T Ready to Offer Samsung Galaxy S Iii to Us Customers

American wireless carrier AT&T has announced that it will be offering the Samsung Galaxy S III to its customers and will be taking pre-orders of the popular smartphone starting June 6th. The announcement comes shortly after AT&T competitor Verizon announced that it had the Galaxy S III for pre-order. The month of June will see a total of five US carriers release the Samsung device their American customers. The companies taking pre-orders include AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, Verizon Wireless and U.S. Cellular.

The last few weeks have seen Samsung’s flagship high end smart phone conquer the market with its incredible opening day sales. With nine million units pre-ordered the Galaxy S III has become the largest selling device in history and has dropped the iPhone 4S from it top spot. The Galaxy was not released in the US immediately and South Korean electronics giants chose to launch the phone in Europe and the Middle East first before it headed over to the US. Samsung may have waited to release the phone in the US so that the buzz and reviews generated by sales in other countries may create a positive hype before the Galaxy S III hit American shores.

AT&T has not announced the shipping dates for the Galaxy S III after a pre order has been placed but customers can get the device in three colors including red, which other carriers do not have. The smartphone will go on sale for $200 and will be powered by Snapdragon S4. Interestingly the US carrier wil only offer the device in the 16GB model and sell a 16GB microSD card for anyone looking for more storage on the device. The Samsung device will run off Google’s Android 4.0.4 also known as Ice Cream Sandwich layered with Samsung’s TouchWiz.
