Barbican Tube Station London

The Barbican Tube station has gone through several name changes over the years. Initially, the London underground stop was known as Aldersgate Street but in 1910 it was renamed to just Adersgate. This evolution kept taking place until in 1968, it was given the name it has today. The tube stop serves an area of London known as the Barbican estate which is a residential complex. The Barbican estate and the Tube station, have both been effected by the German bombing raids during World War II and sustained severe damage. Currently this section of the city houses many financial organizations which serve the city of London. The apartment buildings that are in the area were originally built in the 1960s but have seen several upgrades.
