Booming Ipad Sales Dominate Mobile Pc Market
Apple has kept its dominance over the mobile PC market, with a market share of over 20%. As per the NPD Display Search report, Apple went on to hit over 17 million mobile PC sales in the first three months of the year 2012. The report generated quarterly contains analysis of notebook, mini-note book as well as the global tablet market.
Richard Shim the NPD Display Search Senior Analyst said, “The China region had sequential quarter shipment growth, achieving 13% for mobile PCs overall, 12% for notebook and mini-note PCs, and 16% for tablet PCs. This is noteworthy given the sequential declines in all other regions as well as the declines in other product categories including TVs and monitors.”
It may not be wrong to say that Apple tops the mobile PC world with the likes of Acer Group, HP, Lenovo and Dell amongst the runners up. Comparing the number of sales, the total recorded in the first quarter for Dell was around 5.6 million after Apple’s 17.2 million sales.

Apart from this, there were nearly 63% tablet PCs sold globally in 3 months by Apple. The period was punctuated by successful debut of the new iPad which made big contribution. The only one to follow Apple was Samsung with only table shipments of no more than 7.5%.
Going back to the NPD Display Search report, it also separately mentioned standings of the notebook and mini notebook and tablet PCs. The HP, Acer Group and Lenovo led the way in the notebook sector. Besides, the report also highlighted the Acer Group moving to the number two spot with planetary numbers of sales for notebook and mini-notebook (except tablet PCs) in China.
