Department for International Development London
The Department for International Development (DFID) is a division of the government of the United Kingdom. This department was initially a part of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, but was separated in 1997. Since then, DFID is working as a separate entity. The main aim of this division is to promote sustainable growth and remove poverty from the entire world. A rough estimate of the DFID expenditure was made in 2009 – which was close to £6.65bn, from which one can gauge how much efforts they are putting in to make this globe a better living place. The efforts of DFID were also recognised by the the Development Assistance Committee (DAC) in 2010, when they recognised it as a leader in international development during global crisis.
