Difference between East and West Germany
Germany was divided into East and West Germany for a long time and the two countries had a wall between them which was known as the Berlin Wall. The wall was demolished in 1989 after a period of 45 years and since then the area has been known as Germany.
The two regions or areas had huge differences for over four decades and there was great tension between the two countries. West Germany excelled as an economy as it was recognized by the world whereas East Germany was left behind which led to protests from the people. Due to immense political and public pressure, the Berlin Wall was demolished in 1989.
East Germany had great communist influence whereas West Germany was a non-communist region. The region was supported by the Soviet Union, which considered it as a spoil of war. On the other hand, West Germany was supported by British allies which including the likes of France and United States.
As East Germany had a communist society, the economy of the region struggled in comparison to the other countries and the people had no freedom. On the other hand, West Germany, which had a capitalist approach, saw a rapid growth in the economy and the region was considered as the fastest growing economies in Europe.
East Germany was not considered as a legitimate communist state whereas West Germany was accepted by the rest of the world.

East Germany
The invasion of the Allied forces and Soviet forces in the region after World War II resulted in the partition. East Germany was controlled by the Soviet forces and had a communist influence. The region was considered as a spoil of war after the World War and its communist influence did not help its cause. The economy struggled heavily under the Soviet influence until it became a part of Germany in 1989.

West Germany
West Germany was created after Allies’ Britain, United States and France merged after the World War II. These forces invaded Germany from the West and formed a merger of zones. This was to counter the influence of USSR in the region. There was huge tension between the Allies and Axis forces. West Germany was a non-communist state and was a capitalist society. The region saw great economic growth in due to the freedom provided to the people and the country became one of the fastest growing economies in the continent.
