Difference Between Golden globes and Oscars
Winning a Golden Globe award is a massive achievement. But scooping an Oscar is an even bigger success. Both film awards are hugely respected at the international level, and the actor plus directors dream of even obtaining a nomination.
With common winners and participants mostly, they are likely the two most mixing up awards in the entertainment industry. Although Oscars and Golden Globes have plenty of similarities, they are entirely separate movie awards with different history, function, judging and time frame.
Oscars are also known as Academy Awards, and have been taking place since 1929. Golden Globes also have a very long history.

History
The very first version of Oscars took place on May 16, 1929. The event was hosted by the famous Hotel Roosevelt that is still located in Hollywood. Golden Globes, on the other hand, are still younger. The first ceremony of these awards be hosted by Los Angeles’ 20th Century Fox Studios, back in January 1944. With a better reputation and slightly longer history, the Academy Awards are considered to be the most prestigious in the movie industry. -

Function
Oscars are all about motion pictures. The academy nominates different contestants in various categories each year. Golden Globes, on the other hand, involve both movie and television industry. -
3
Judging
You may have seen many actors winning both awards in the similar year. But there is a massive difference between the judging procedures of these two awards. The committee members of Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences pick out the Oscar winners, while the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) is responsible for choosing the nominees and winners of the Golden Globes.

Misconceptions
Usually the same movies are nominated by both awards and thus, a lot of people believe that they have the same jury. Another misconception is about the categories of both awards.
Oscars have nothing to do with the television, whereas the Golden Globes do pick up winners from the TV industry. Both awards are broadcasted on television; therefore, many people get confused. -

Time Frame
The Academy Awards always come after the Golden Globes each year. The latter of two can be termed as a preview of the Oscars. However, it does not perforce mirror the Academy Awards.
