Difference between Jesus and Buddha
The human history is full of people, who contributed to the well being of the society and earned a lot of respect for their humanitarian activities. People still follow their messages and believe that they were sent by God to show mankind the right path.
Two of such people were Jesus and Buddha, who have got millions of followers worldwide and people learn from their lives to stay happy and prosperous.
Buddha’s followers are called Buddhists and the religion they follow is Buddhism. On the other hand, there are two major beliefs related to Jesus. One of them is that he was the son of God whereas the other is that he was a messenger of God. The people from the former belief are known as Christians whereas the others belong to the religion Islam.
The biggest different between Jesus and Buddha is that the former was born through a miracle to Virgin Mary in Bethlehem. Compared to him, Buddha was born naturally without any miracles. The name of his parents was Suddhodana (father) and Maha Maya (mother).
Buddha’s parents were the king and queen of Sakyas, so he was quite rich and was a prince. Compared to him, Jesus was born in a poor family and worked as a labourer for 30 years.
Since Jesus was God’s messenger, the holy book Bible was revealed to him, so he could preach mankind about the Creator of the universe. However, no books were revealed to Buddha, but he believed that there is no God.
Christians believe that Jesus was the son of God, whereas Buddha was never seen as God and was just considered as a common man, who got enlightened at a very young age.
The name of Jesus can be found in different Holy Scriptures such as the Bible and the Quran, but there is no such reference of Buddha in these books.
According to the Christian faith, Jesus died a painful death through crucifixion whereas the Muslims don’t believe this to be true. They believe that Jesus disappeared before the crucifixion and will come back at the end of times. On the other hand, Buddha died a natural death at the age of 80.
