Difference between Jumper and Cardigan
Jumpers and cardigans are both garments that are worn on the upper part of the body. However, the major difference between the two is that while a jumper is closed from the front, a cardigan is open, although it may have buttons or a zipper if the wearer wishes to close it. This means that a jumper always needs to be put on overhead, while a cardigan can easily be slipped onto the arms and over the shoulders.
Another major difference between the two is that a jumper is worn over another outfit – this could be a t-shirt with jeans, shorts, or a skirt, or even a mini dress. A cardigan, on the other hand, is a knitted garment which is typically worn over a shirt. It should also be noted that the garments which are called jumpers in the United States of America, are known as sweaters in the United Kingdom.

Jumper
Jumpers are usually worn over another dress, as they do not have a zipper or buttons on the front. The dress over which the jumper is worn is usually visible. There is no set pattern regarding the length of the jumper, as it can vary. Mostly, it is waist high; however, it can be longer as well, reaching the knees or even the ankles.
Jumpers are commonly known as sweaters in England, while the word 'jumper' is used extensively in the United States of America. Sweaters are worn by both males and females, as they are woollen garments meant to keep us warm in the winters. Jumpers can be made in a variety of styles, although they are usually made with round necks, v-necks, or collars.

Cardigan
This word is used to refer to any woollen garment with an open front. Unlike jumpers and other woollen garments which have closed fronts, cardigans generally have zips or buttons on the front, which are used for closing them if the wearer wishes, particularly for added protection for the chest during wintertime. This garment is worn more like a shirt, and less like a pullover or jumper. Usually cardigans with full sleeves are preferred over other styles, as are those that have collars (although V-necked cardigans are also very popular). Nonetheless, sleeveless cardigans are also available and are liked by many, which makes them fairly popular.
Cardigans give you a more sophisticated and classy look, as compared to jumpers, and this is why they are worn in offices and professional settings, unlike jumpers which are frequently not allowed as per office dress codes. Different coloured cardigans can look exceptional with formal pants and shoes, and make the wearer look very mature and responsible.
