Difference between Labradoodle and Goldendoodle

Goldendoodles and labradoodles are two dog breeds that are extremely friendly and full of energy, which is why they are loved by people all over the world. The poodle trait is common in both of them, and makes them look very similar; owing to this, a common man cannot normally tell the difference between the two.

Even an expert might sometimes get confused when he/she sees these two dogs together at the same place. This goes to show that they are visibly almost identical and it is hard to spot any difference between them.

However, there are some particular behavioural differences between the goldendoodle and labradoodle, which you can observe if you spend some time with them.

Moreover, there is a slight difference in their physical appearance too, but you need to be a close observer in order to spot it.

The basic thing that separates these two dogs is that the labradoodle is a cross between a labrador retriever and a poodle, whereas the goldendoodle is a cross between a golden retriever and a poodle. Once you are aware of this fact, you can clearly tell why they are so similar in so many ways.

Another difference between these two dog breeds is that the goldendoodle has got a golden yellowish colour; this is where it gets its name from. On the other hand, the labradoodle has the colour of a labrador retriever, which makes it slightly different in appearance from the goldendoodle. However, both these dog breeds have got the curled fur of a poodle, which causes the main confusion.

In addition, there is a clear difference between the coats of these two dog breeds, which can help you identify them easily. The labradoodle has got a short and curly coat whereas the goldendoodle has got a slightly longer coat with waves.

Goldendoodles were first bred in Australia and North America, whereas labradoodles were only bred in Australia.

Yet another feature which can help in distinguishing between these two dog breeds is that goldendoodles are more friendly and don’t show aggression towards strangers unless they sense a threat.

On the other hand, labradoodles take some time to get acquainted with strangers, so one needs to be careful when around them.
