Difference between Methodist and Presbyterian
Protestants comprise on Methodists and Presbyterians which are the branches of Christianity. Many people think that Methodists and Presbyterians are the same as both of these branches believe in Jesus as the saviour of the universe or mankind. However, a close observation reveals that Methodists and Presbyterians are not the same as the method or manner in which both of these protestant’s branches practice their faith differs greatly from each other. Methodist Church hold the belief that people can ask God for His guidance and grace to save those who are not virtuous whereas Presbyterians believe that people need God’s grace but they cannot seek God by themselves.
Methodists also believe that all people who have faith in God will get salvation whereas according to the Presbyterian people, only chosen ones will get salvation not all. Methodists believe that those people who do not obey God will not get salvation while Presbyterians believe that if God has chosen a person then he will be saved in any case whatsoever. The founders of Methodist Church were Charles Wesley and John Wesley, who laid foundations of this denomination in England in 18th century. On the other hand, John Knox was the founder of Presbyterian Church who was inspired by the John Calvin who was a theologian in France in 18th century.

Methodist
Methodist is a denomination or a branch of Protestant Church and it has a considerably huge strength of followers that are more than 70 million all over the world. John and Charles Wesley started a reform movement back in 18th century and laid the foundations of Methodism. The core objective of Methodism was to work for the welfare of the society through missionary work, promoting orphanage and schools, hospitals and spreading the teaching of gospel. However, after the death of John Wesley, the followers of Methodism established a completely separate denomination or branch in Christianity.

Presbyterian
The followers of Presbyterian, a branch or Protestant Church, are basically inspired by John Calvin, who was an 18th century theologian in France. Calvin took inspiration from Martin Luther who had run a reform movement in Germany in 16th century. Presbyterian branch was formed in Scotland and the Scottish immigrants spread the Presbyterian beliefs in America. According to the Presbyterians’ beliefs, the God and Holy Scriptures are supreme and also give importance to the grace of God for the chosen ones or the followers.
