Difference between Mineral and Soda Water

Many people are confused with Mineral and Soda water and sometimes denote it as the same thing. There is a difference between the two drinks which needs to be understood.

Mineral water is the type of water that has minerals or other substances which change the overall taste of the liquid. The substances that are usually dissolved in mineral water are different salts, gases and sulphur compounds. On the other hand, soda water can be known as carbonated water or sparkling water. It is generally plain water in which carbon monoxide is dissolved. This type of liquid also has a number of salts dissolved in it which include the likes of table salt, potassium bicarbonate, potassium sulphate or sodium citrate.

Mineral water is marketed as an alternative to the usual drinking water. It is a bit expensive but is marketed as a great product for your health. On the other hand, soda water is usually promoted as a mixer. It is used to mix other drinks.

There are a number of uses for both types of water. They are used in different ways. While mineral water is used for drinking purposes and can be flavoured with different fruits, soda water has different uses. It is popularly used as a mixer for alcoholic drinks and is also used as a stain remover from clothes.
