Difference Between Teacher and Professor
Teaching is a respected occupation all across the globe. A student goes through different stages to complete his/her studies. After early education, an individual goes to high school and then college. The process comes to an end in university, where the student meets the best of the people.
Teacher and Professor are very important elements of the education system. Although the duty of both is to teach, but there are some technical differences between their jobs. Normally, a teacher is who teaches different subjects in a school. A teacher may have specialty in one particular subject, but its job is to teach more than one subjects.
On the other hand, a professor teaches only one specific subject at a college or in university. For example, the professor of physics cannot teach chemistry to the same class. Similarly, one who has a doctorate degree is engineering does not teach biology or any other different subject.
Usually, a person needs to have a bachelor or master degree to become a school teacher. On the contrary, it is impossible to become a professor without a research degree in the relevant subject.
A teacher, however, can become a professor by improving his qualification while teaching. When it comes to money, a professor earns way more than a teacher.
There are some misunderstandings between these two terms. Sometimes, the head of a department in a colleague is called as professor. But technically, he/she is not a professor until he/she acquires a doctorate degree.
