Difference Between Transplant and Implant

Transplant is basically moving organs or tissues from one body to another one or from one part of a person’s body to another one. On the other hand, Implant can be a medical device that is used to enhance some part of the body or replace an affected part.

Transplants are live tissues that are moved from one body to another whereas Implants are medical devices that are planted into the body. They can also be changed or replaced in the future. Implants are usually made up of silicone or titanium.

Transplants may be acquired from a human being who is living or dead. These may include kidneys, liver, lungs, intestine, eyes or heart. On the other hand, implants may be breast implants or bone implants.

Transplants will work like a tissue in a human being’s body whereas implants, as they are not live, work in the way the organ functions.

Many people have argued that transplants have ethical issues as the person who gives his organ for transplant may face huge health risks. A person donating a kidney may face risks in the future. On the other hand, implants do not have any health issues as they are not live organs and they only may affect the person who is using them.
