When it comes to pain relief, there are many options that are available in the market. People choose which ones to use based on the previous experiences as well as what their doctor has recommended. Most of these options work though there are individual variations that take place depending on each patient. There is a wide variety of various pain killers that are available for use that are quite effective.

Tylenol and Percocet are two of the options that are available in the market. Both are extremely popular for pain relief. These two are both known to work well for pain relief but there are some marked differences between the two which are hard to miss.

Tylenol is generally used to relieve pain that is mild to moderate in nature. However, Percocet is used to relieve pain that is moderate to severe in nature.

Tylenol is an over the counter drug and therefore, can be easily obtained. On the other hand, Percocet is not over the counter and without a prescription from the doctor, it cannot be had. This is probably because of its high strength.

The recommended dose of Tylenol is 1-2 pills every four hours. Percocet is recommended generally to be used taking 1-2 pills every six hours.

Percocet has a greater amount of acetaminophen in it when compared to Tylenol. In case of abuse, Percocet is far more dangerous than Tylenol. It contains synthetic narcotic which comes from the family of methadone and codeine. This is what makes Percocet very effective for pain relief. These elements are not present in Tylenol.
