Eton Manor Rugby Club London

Covering the northern part of Olympic Park, Eton Manor’s venue will be used for the 2012 Paralympics Wheel chair Tennis. Currently it is temporary being used for the aquatic sports rehearsals, but during the event six sessions of wheelchair tennis will take place. With the accommodation of 10,500 spectators, venue contains four courts for practice, along with nine courts for the competition. Under the authority of Lee Valley Regional Park, Eton Manor covers 27 acres area, Lee Valley not only owns it, but they are also running the venue. It has been decided that after the 2012 Paralympics, stadium will be used for sports, especially hockey. Since 2001 the ground was disused, but XXX Olympiad is giving the stadium a chance to make its come back.

    History

    The name Eton Manor was taken by a college, which was introduced in order to provide living standards to the East End of London. Later in 1909 a club was formed by the name of Eton Manor Boy’s Club, which was supposed to endow sporting facility. The club was started  in a farm which was later on transformed into a sports ground where children could play and practice football, rugby, tennis, bowling, squash, and running. In 1967 this club was closed, after so many years in 2012 the prestigious event of games is bringing life to this venue by organizing wheelchair tennis here.

    What's inside the London Olympic Stadium?

    Currently there are temporary swimming pools constructed within the venue, where athletes who are participating in water games can practice. And besides those pools, 9 tennis courts for the events, and 4 courts for practice sessios have been built.

    After the Games:

    It has been decided that when Paralympics ends, then Eton Manor will be converted into a sport complex, in which mix sport facilities will be provided, such as tennis center with 10 courts (4 indoor and 6 outdoor) and a hockey center, where elite hockey events will take place.

    Operational Hours:

    Operational time depends upon the events taking place in this venue. But in order to contact the authorities you can pay a visit any time between 9:00 am till 5:00 pm from Monday till Sunday.

    How to Get there:

    By Tube:

    In the north side of Olympic Park, Eton Manor is situated. Stratford tube station is few feet away; you will have to head towards north after coming out of the transit and keep marching until you reach at your destination.

    By Bus

    Adjacent to the Stratford tube station a bus stop Stratford (Stop A)‎ is also available; you will have to follow similar directions.
