Facebook Ads Now Appear On Zynga.Com
Zynga.com has just begun up showing Facebook ads on their website as the social networking giant looks to find ways to help marketers reach users in way to promote their products vigorously.
People who visit Zynga.com will be shown what Facebook calls “sponsored stories,” ads prompted when a Facebook user “likes” a particular brand or business on social site.
The ads are located in the Zynga right sidebar, and use the same personalized targeting exhibited by ads on the social networking site. This deal will eventually enable Zynga to better generate revenue from its site without the need for expanding its sales force, and at the same time Facebook essentially gets free money as well. In the past, these ads were only visible on the Facebook’s own site and in its mobile applications. The profit sharing mechanism is not yet disclosed by the two companies.
“People may now see ads and sponsored stories from Facebook on Zynga.com,” Annie Ta, a spokeswoman for Facebook, said in an e-mailed statement today. “We don’t share any information about people or advertisers with Zynga and advertisers do not have any new targeting criteria.”
Zynga and Facebook have been in a close relationship for a longtime, since Zynga made a huge profit in its own right by rolling out popular games like FarmVille on the Facebook podium. According to the deal, Facebook gets 30% from the revenue generated through Zynga games on Facebook.
Recently, Facebook received bad press after large drop in its share price. The company’s market capitalization ran over $100 billion at the initial level, but after sometime it declined as the stock sold off sharply.
On the other hand, Facebook has just introduced comment editing and edit history feature, avoiding the need to delete an entire post. “If I join a thread and write a long comment but make a typo, I’ll now be able to go edit it instead of having to delete it and repost,” a spokeswoman said.
