Facebook Hires Apple Design Manager to Its Mobile Product Team

A month after Facebook rumored to be hiring Apple’s engineers to build new Smartphone, another riveting news comes to tantalize the tech circles. Facebook has now hired former Apple user interface design manager, possibly to lead the company’s Smartphone project, according to reliable sources.

Facebook had been desperately seeking to fill the design manager slot with the appropriate person to lead a team of designers. The company advertised the job of management role, but they were also looking for a person who should have strong grip on design work.

“Candidates must have strong visual and interaction skills and the ability to help shape product strategy,” the job ad stated. “Candidates that can build their own designs are preferable.”

While looking at the career record of Weeldreyer on his LinkedIn profile, he has a hands-on experience in industrial design, interaction design, and user interface design. This is a good fit for the company’s focus on developing new products for its social network.

Weeldreyer, who was previously working for Apple, left the company earlier this year. He was working for the company for last eight years, and joined Facebook on June 18.

The company has faced some difficulties in the mobile market. Its mobile apps are not that successful because of lack of quality and user-friendliness. But a recent study indicates that there is a rapid increase in the usage of mobile device in the recent years. However, Facebook still needs to figure out how to better succeed in the mobile world.

According to a Facebook representative “We’re excited to welcome Chris Weeldreyer to Facebook, where he will be a great addition to our growing design teams.” He further said that Weeldreyer will work as the product design manager, and he will be dealing with mobile related products of the social networking site.

On the other hand, Apple has just revealed Facebook integration with its upcoming Ios 6, so the relation between the two tech giants is stronger than ever.
