If you are leaving a job then sending a well written email is considered an appropriate practice. This will not only notify colleagues about your departure but it also gives you a chance to say thanks to your team members.

However, writing a goodbye email is not an easy thing as you will have to summarise everything in just a few words. Remember, there is lot of difference between a farewell letter and email.
