Nasal Congestion Relief with Decongestant Steam

Quick show of hands, who out there likes the stuffed-up hard to breathe feeling of being congested and sick? Now that you are all sitting on your hands, take some time to consider using a nice facial steam to clear your sinuses and have you breathing easier without the use of medication and other less desirable alternatives. For best results, use this treatment for two days.

Things Required:

rosemary: 3 teaspoons
peppermint leaves: 4 teaspoons
thyme: 3 teaspoons

Instructions

    Mix and Split

    Mix the herbs mentioned above together. Split the mixture into two equal servings and store one half in a zipper storage bag or a sealed container.

    Boil and Steep

    Bring 4 cups of water to a boil, remove it from the stove top and add the remaining half of the mixture to it. Cover the pot with a cover and allow the herbs to steep for 10 minutes.

    Uncover and Cover

    Take this 10 minutes to find a couple of clean towels and a timer. Place one towel on the counter top or table you will be using for your steam treatment. Be sure to tie your hair back if it is long.

    Once the time has elapsed, place the pot on the towel and remove the lid. Quickly place your face 10-12' above the steaming pot. Place the other towel over your head creating something of a tent that traps the steam.

    Enjoy

    Close your eyes and enjoy the steam treatment. Breathe deeply and try to relax. You should feel your congestion progressively diminishing. If you feel faint or light headed, stop the treatment. Either way, the treatment should not last more than 5-6 minutes.

    Once finished, feel free to splash your face will cool water if you feel hot. Pat your skin dry.

    Repeat Tomorrow

    If you found this treatment pleasant and effective, there is still half the herbs waiting to be steeped and inhaled on day 2.
