How To Add a Submit Button to Tumblr

A recent research has revealed that more teens in the US are turning to Tumblr and logging in on daily basis than they visit the immensely popular social networking website Facebook. The explanation for this growing interest of teens in the free blog hosting website is still not very clear, though if one takes a look at the various features of Tumblr, one is forced to admit that the site indeed has a certain appeal to it.

Tumblr is often compared to other micro-blogging websites, but one thing that makes it stand out from the latter is its submit feature. It allows the owner of the blog to get feedback from the audience and also allow them to add to the topic under discussion by submitting their own content, such as posts, pictures, videos etc.

While Tumblr has made it quite convenient for its users to enable the submit feature on blogs, sometimes the submit button does not show. This issue, while frustrating, can be tackled quite easily.

Instructions

  • 1

The first thing that you need to check is whether you have a submit feature enabled on your Tumblr page. In order to do that, go to your blog settings page by pressing “Dashboard” tab and then clicking “Blog Settings”.

  • 2

Once you get there, locate and click the box next to “Let People Submit Posts”.

  • 3

Clicking the box will make the Submission Settings appear on the screen. You will be able to change your submission preference here. You can change the Submission Title, Submission guidelines, the type of posts that users will be able to submit, and the optional tags.

  • 4

Once you are done making the changes, click the save button to save your settings and enable the submit feature.

  • 5

After you are done enabling the submit feature, navigate your way to the customise page. To reach this page, click “Dashboard”. Locate and click “Customise Appearance”. Now look “Edit HTML” and click it.

  • 6

Now you have reached the page from where you can make a custom submit link appear on your Tumblr page. Copy the code “{block:SubmissionsEnabled} Submit{/block:SubmissionsEnabled}” without the quotations and paste it where you want the link to show on your page. You can also add the code to the description section on the Tumblr Customise page.

After you have copy-pasted the code given in the previous step, hit the save button to save your settings. Close the settings page and navigate to your Tumblr blog. You will now find a submit button right where you wanted it on your blog.
