How to Adjust a Power Garage Door
Garage door opens and closes itself automatically. However, it is possible that sometimes it may get stuck and need some adjustments in the alignment. Making these adjustment is easy, and you can do it by yourself with help of some basic tools and a considerable amount of time. If you think the door has some serious problem and you cannot fix it, get it fixed from a professional plumber. Nevertheless, you can do maintenance of small scale by yourself.

Regular Inspection of Door
It is possible that your garage door might not be closing right down on the floor and you let this problem continue unnoticed. For this, you should inspect your door regularly, whether it closes down right to touch the floor and opens smoothly as well. -

Turning Limit Switch
You should also check and adjust the turning of limit switch. Use a step ladder to reach on the top of the door where these plastic screws are located. Turn the screws with a screwdriver and see they have no problems in turning. -

Check Reverse Feature
Almost all garages' power doors have an automatic reverse option. To check this you can place a piece of wood in the way of the door on the floor, and then push the operation button to close the door. Just before closing, the door touches the wood piece right on the floor and it stops, and after a while it reverses itself to open again. This step is performed automatically and if it happens, your door is operating properly. -

Down Force Adjustment Knob
Locate the button of force down adjust knob at the back of your garage door opener. With use of your hand try to turn the button clockwise for a few increments. Do not push the button too hard. -

Up Force Adjustment Knob
You should also adjust the up force adjustment knob the way you did the down force adjustment knob. However, you can check yourself if the up force power is good before adjusting the knob. You can push the door operation button and your door will start opening upward. Try to hold the door with a delicate force and if the door stops from opening, your knob power is good and if not you can adjust it for a few increments. Again, you do not need a special tool and can adjust it with use of your hand.
