How To Apply Cream Eyeliner
Accentuating the eyes by emphasising their outline is an age-old practice, used to enhance the eyes and bring out their allure. Makeup in contemporary times, however, has come a long way from the crushed charcoal and kohl used to highlight the eyes. Alongside pencil and liquid eyeliners, the mainstream public is branching out, and demanding the availability of makeup products that have hitherto been used solely by professionals.
Prime among these is cream eyeliner – notoriously difficult to use, but worth it if you can manage to apply it effectively and pull it off, cream eyeliner makes for a glamorous look. Long-lasting, water-proof and smudge-resistant, this type of liner is great for creating a smoky look, although it will require a fair amount of practice before you can apply it to perfection.
Things Required:
– Cream eyeliner
– Water
– Cream eyeliner brush
– Tissue paper
Instructions
-
1
Begin by selecting the shade you want. Go with shades of grey if you’re going for the smoky look, try out metallic dark blue or green if you feel adventurous, or opt for the simple and classic black.
-
2
To start with, unscrew the pot of cream eyeliner, and fill its lid/cap with a little bit of water. Place this where you can easily reach it.
-
3
Next, hold the cream eyeliner brush in your hand firmly and steadily. Most cream eyeliners will come with a brush, but if yours doesn’t, you can always purchase a common size zero makeup brush with a fine point – it helps if the brush is angled, as this allows for greater precision during the application.
-

Dip the brush in the water, just enough to dampen it, then dip it in to the cream eyeliner. Mix it up a little, like you would do with paint, so it becomes smooth and easy to use. Once it reaches the desired consistency, wipe off excess eyeliner, and take a little bit on to your brush, or as much as you can manage with ease.
-
5
Owing to its creamy consistency, this type of liner needs to be applied with a steady hand – the slightest shake will smear it and you’ll have to start all over. Keeping tissues handy in case you need to wipe off excess liner, start dotting on the cream liner along your upper and lower lash lines. Start from the inner corners of your eyes and move outward.

6
Once this is done, use the brush to glide through the dots and spread the liner evenly, so that it forms a smooth, even, and fine line. Be quick with this, as it tends to dry quickly. Once you’ve finished spreading it as much as you’d like, leave it to dry and take extra care not to smear it. Follow the same process with your other eye, and make sure the liner is even in both eyes. Enjoy the fabulous final result.
