Tie an Overhand Knot
First of all enfold the tag end of the flying backing around the fishing spool two times. Now pull the tag-end out in between the pair of reel pillars and bind an overhand knot at its last part. Pull the opening ends of the knot to tighten it properly. -

Tie a Knot Around Standing Leader
Get a hold of a tag line and bind it in another overhand knot right around the fishing line’s standing leader part. Use the index fingers and thumbs of both hands to tauten the newly formed knot into place firmly. -

Test the Knot
You have successfully attached the Fly Line to a Backing and you are all set to go fishing. However, it is always better to test the knot before moving on. If you find it slipping, simply cut it off with the help of a pair of scissors and try again, without losing a part of your fishing line.
