You need to make a resolve yourself first. Keep in your mind that you need to focus and avoid wasting time. Make a firm promise to yourself that you need to finish your work. You need to understand yourself that postponing work will make it harder for you the next day. Old habits die hard but it’s not impossible. Your mind has become used to wasting time and taking it easy. Tell your mind the difference between distractions and your own lazy habits.

Set goals for yourself on daily basis. They should be achievable and time bound so you are motivated to achieve them. If you want the work to finish on time, start doing it on time too. Also write your goals on paper, written goals are more tangible and always stay in sight. Be strong in avoiding distractions, when a gorgeous lady passes by; fight the urge to look up. Keep in mind that your actions are in your own hand and stay strong.

When you aim to finish your work on time, shut off those distractions which are in your hand. One of the big distractions is the internet. It will be helpful if you turn it off for some time. Resist the urge to waste time on networking sites or random surfing on the net. If the distractions are in your reach, you are likely to fall prey to them. Also avoid coffee while working; it doesn’t let you relax. This way you will not be able to focus and the work will get delayed. Instead opt for drinks which have relaxing effect: milk, tea, green tea or water. The simplest of all things is to close the door of your office. People are less likely to stop at the door for a chat if the door is open. It shouldn’t be always closed, only when you are trying to concentrate.
