How to Avoid Genetically Modified Foods

Food is one of the basic necessities of life and in order to be able to live, we must have a sufficient level of nutrition. With the population on the rise, agricultural scientists have been looking to find ways to increase the production yield and it is an ongoing process.

Much success has been achieved and we have an extremely high per acre yield in this day and age. However, along with the many good innovations, we have had some genetic modifications that are not in the best health interest of the masses. Although these changes mean that there is less wastage and food that appears to be perfect in shape and size, it is fairly unhealthy and many health related groups have waged a war against these eatables.

It is, however, in our hands to save our health and get products that are not genetically modified and are natural.

    Get the List

Many of these products are not required to write about the modification on the label though some are. You will need to get a list of the products that are genetically modified and sanctioned by the FDA. This list will be available with FDA. Health groups that oppose these products will also most likely have the details that you want.

    Shop Smartly

Once you have acquired the list, make sure that you never purchase the products that are genetically modified and instead choose other brands that are natural. You can also buy food from the organic sections of the stores. The food will cost you quite a bit, more than twice in some cases but one cannot put a price on health so better spend more than live less and unhealthy.

    Buy from Farms

Look for farms in your area where you can get your food from, many farms at smaller scale still use less dangerous approaches to their cultivation and getting your grains and veggies from the farms can be a great idea. You can also get your chicken and eggs from these farms as these two are some of the most modified products that you can find around.

    Eat Selectively Outdoors

Most the fast foods and restaurants offer you food cooked from the same genetically modified food. Ideally avoid them altogether and cook more at home. Once you want to go out, there are restaurants that specifically cook ingredients that are organic so you can eat healthy.
