How to Avoid Indigestion and Heartburn

At times when we are having our favourite food, it is hard to keep track of the amount we have consumed. One can track it but we don’t do so otherwise we may actually eat less. The overeating can very easily cause indigestion and heartburn.

The fun factor can turn into a bit of torture when you have those smelly burps and feeling like a stove is burning inside your tummy. It’s something no one wants but we can avoid it if we are a touch more careful in our eating habits.

    Leave Some Space

It is something that we find hard to do when something delicious is served. It is ideal that we leave some space in our stomach when we are eating so that our stomach does not get unsettled. We often eat up more than our tummies can afford and as a result have such issues.

    Chew Well

One of the reasons that we get indigestion is that we do not chew well enough. Once our stomach has food that is not chewed enough, it has to work more than it should and causes indigestion at times. Chewing also helps as we give our stomach ample time to send the signal to the brain that it is full. When we are eating fast and not chewing much, the signal gets to the brain late and we already have eaten more than we should have. Research has also shown that those who chew more generally have a reduced chance of being overweight.

    Cut Warm Beverages

You do not need to reduce all of them but tea and coffee are two main ones. They can cause heartburn and also damage the stomach internally. You can drink green tea instead which soothes the digestive system as well as water. Chinese drink warm water which is generally linked with a better stomach so that is also a good option.

    Reduce Spices

Although many of us love those spices in our foods, they are not always good for you. Doctors recommend some green chilies as they provide you with Vitamin C but chilies and other spices should only be had in moderation. Eating more is a guarantee that you will have severe heartburn and you may also have a loose tummy within no time.

    Walk

Do walk regularly as it is good for everyday health and also for your digestive system to stay in motion. Do not walk after eating meals and give at least two hours break after you have eaten.
