Salt: 1/3 tsp.
Eggs: 3
Bacon slices: 6 to 8
Heavy creams: 1 cup
White pepper: ¼ tsp.
Cayenne pepper: just a pinch
Small leeks: 1
Black pepper: ½ tsp.
Partially baked tart dough: 1
Grated Gruyere cheese: 2/3 cup

Instructions

  • 1

    Preheat the oven

First of all you are required to preheat the oven to 375 degrees. You can now grab a shallow pie plate and place tart dough in it before you prebake it for about 15 minutes.

  • 2

Trim the roots of the leek

You are now required to trim the green parts of the leek before discarding them. In half lengthwise, you need to slice the white and light green parts of the leek before you can rinse them between the layers.

  • 3

    Fry the bacon

Fry the bacon slices slowly over medium heat in a skillet. Turn the heat off when the bacon is nice and crisp. You can put the bacon slices on a paper towel now. While you are taking out the bacon slices, you should make sure that at least a tablespoon of oil is left in the skillet. Now you need to sauté the leeks in the skillet till they are tender.

  • 4

    Crumble the bacon

Crumble the bacon with your fingers while the leeks are being cooked. The bacon needs to be scattered on the bottom of the crust. Once done, you also have to scatter the leeks over the crust.

  • 5

    Blend the ingredients

Put eggs, salt, cream and all the peppers in a bowl and beat them until they are nicely blended. You may now beat in the cheese as well.

  • 6

    Bake

Now pour the mixture in the tart shell and bake it in the preheated oven for about 30 to 40 minutes.
