Always try to keep a straight face. In the game of poker, facial expressions play a key role in making others feel apprehensive and confused. When you are given the cards, you should try to keep your face steady. Any facial change can let your opponent know about your position and you may then end up losing the game. If you have trouble preventing yourself from smiling, breathe slowly and quietly through your nose.

Even the smallest change can give you away. Make all of your movements deliberate, i.e. don't let your eyes wander or your fingers tap. If you know that you won't be able to make your hand stay still throughout the game, then keep it in constant motion throughout the whole game. Keep steady and consistent. If you do something different, this can be taken as a hint by your opponents.

When you're going to bluff, you absolutely must make your opponents believe that you have a better hand. This can be done by betting and raising the amount on the table. When someone else bets more, don't be afraid to raise, even if it is a huge amount. The more you put in, the scarier it will be for someone with a lower hand. However, be careful; if you don't have steps one and two mastered, then you just might end up losing that high bet.

Not only are these tricks difficult to master, they can't be used too often either, as that will cancel out their effectiveness. Instead of staying blank throughout the game, if you can make a player underestimate you or fool them, you can set yourself up for a lot of cash. To do this you need to practice. First, near the beginning of the game, whenever you get a good hand you need to smile a little, just a tiny smirk. Most people will catch it and if you have the best hand in the end they will think you smile at good hands. You can also frown at bad hands. Then, you can use these expressions to your advantage. By smiling you can intimidate your opponents, and if you frown at a really good hand you can get them to bet more.
