How to Build a Bicycle Wheel from Scratch
Cycling is not only a sport to follow but it can be performed for sustaining your fitness and stamina. Riding a bicycle for a few minutes a day burns lots of calories and make you sweat out toxins from the skin. However, you never know when any unfavoured event takes place and you have to suffer an accident. If either of the two wheels of your bike gets damaged, you won’t be able to ride it until you have fixed the damage. You must be aware of the fact that brand new bike wheels are a bit expensive and it is likely that you won’t be able to afford them from your pocket money. If you have a will to perform the job, you can make your own bike wheel at home. The parts used in making wheels are relatively cheaper and you can assemble them by yourself to save a lot of bucks.

1
First of all, you have to go to a bike shop technician to purchase all the compatible components for making up the bicycle wheel. You can also order these components online but it is better to visit a spare parts shop to seek a bit help from the sales person present over there. All the parts you purchase must be compatible with each other or otherwise, you will waste your time and money.

You have to begin by stringing the spokes through all the holes of the wheel rim along the hub. The hub body is the central part of the wheel from where the axle will pass when you have to install the wheel.
-
3
When you string a spoke through a hole, you have to thread a nipple down onto it to keep it affixed in position.
-
4
Use a screwdriver to adjust the tension in all of the spokes from the top of the rim. When all the spokes are tightly in place, you have to check out the alignment of the wheel.
-
5
Mount the wheel onto a truing stand and spin it to see if it rotates smoothly or touching the truing stand at some point.
-
6
You have to use a wrench to loosen or tighten the spokes for pulling the wheel rim towards the centre and making its alignment perfect. Keep adjusting the spokes until the wheel rotates perfectly onto the truing stand without touching the arms of the stand.

Now put the inner tube into the tire and then pry the tire onto the wheel rim carefully. Inflate the tire and affix it onto the bicycle axle.
