How to Build a Courtyard Herb Garden

Mostly, it is believed that building and maintaining a courtyard herb garden is not an easy thing but trust me you can handle it by following couple of simple directions. All you need to prepare the soil, plant the seeds and then water properly.

    First of all, you will make a list of the herbs that you want in your courtyard garden. Make sure that they can endure the local climate and they do not require extra care. Here are few names of the herb that grow quickly. You can plant rosemary, lavender, oregano, basil, parsley, sage, marjoram and thyme as they can do well without any fuss. Though, you can also go for cilantro, tarragon, dill and fennel but they need rich soil and a lot of water.

    Pick a location by taking care of sunny spots and shady places. It is better to keep your garden in a round shape as it will be more pleasing for the eyes and you will be able to maintain your courtyard herb garden with much less effort. Mark the center and boundary of the circle, clear the field and you are all set to prepare the soil.

    Prepare the soil:

    You should prepare the soil before planting seeds. Plough the circular bed up as it will help the seeds to grow. Do not forget to clear your field from rocks and unwanted elements. Add fertilizers and mix them properly in the soil.
