How to Build a Table Tennis Table

Table tennis (commonly known as ping pong) is one of the well known indoor sports around the world. If you are looking forward to build your own ping pong table, you can take help from the given steps.

Things Required:

– Four Pieces of 3/4-inch plywood, 48 inches by 60 inches
– Eight pieces of 1-by-4, 28 1/2 inches long
– Four pieces of 1-by-4, 42 inches long
– Two pieces 1-by-4, 46-inches long
– Two hinges
– Measuring tape
– Pencil
– 1 1/2-inch long wood screws
– Drill with screwdriver bit
– Wood glue
– Green paint
– White paint
– Paint brushes
– Masking tape, 1/2-inch wide
– Table tennis net, 6 feet long

Instructions

    First of all, you have to lay the plywood on a flat surface. Take measurement of the board with the inches tape and mark the points with a pencil. Repeat the same process for the opposite sides of the board.

    Now, you have to take the measurements from the centre of the board for both the sides. It is very important for you to keep the lines perpendicular. You will have to method the process for all the pieces of the plywood.

    Then, place the end of one piece of the plywood at a particular point where the two lines cross each other. After that, screw the plywood so as to connect the leg to the table. Please make sure that the lines should be parallel to each other.

    You have to make a mark at a distance of 1 foot from the piece of the plywood. Now, place the piece of the plywood right in between the marks which you made and tighten them with the help of a screw. You will have to repeat the same procedure for all the legs of the table. Then, connect all the four legs of the table and place the plywood on the top of it. Apply some wooden glue and attach the plywood to it. Let the glue dry and put some weight on the plywood so that it may settle properly.

    Bring the two halves of the table together and connect them with the hinges. After that, you have to paint the table with the dark green or blue colour. Let the paint dry completely before you start your game of ping pong.
