1
Decide countertop type
It is very important that you first decide on the type of countertop that you want to build. There are many different types of countertops which are made of stone, stainless steel or marble. Once you have decided on the materials then you will have to measure out the size required. Also, it is very important to understand that the weight of various materials can be quite different, so you should plan in advance for this. -
2
Pick location
It is a good idea to build your outdoor countertop near the main cooking area. If you have a grill or fire pit for preparing food then you will want to build the countertop in this area. Make sure that you have access to water so that you can easily clean the outdoor countertop when needed. Try not to place your outdoor countertop too far from the cooking area as you will be unable to meet or talk with any potential guests as you make the food. -
3
Construct basic structure
Using some 2x4’s, nails and a hammer you can build the basic frame for your outdoor countertop. Make sure to take your time and measure everything accordingly. Your basic structure needs to be strong to support the weight of the countertop and also provide ample space for any possible storage areas. This is the most important step while constructing your outdoor countertop. It is very important that you use enough 2x4’s to get the right frame size. You will also want to add some extra support to handle the stress of being bumped or having some excessive weight on top. -
4
Attach countertop
Once you have properly built the structure you can now carefully attach the countertop. You will need to use the screws and a screwdriver to make sure it sits firmly on top. Take your time while attaching the countertop as this will ensure that everything fits properly. -
5
Attach water or electricity
If you want to have running water and an electrical outlet then you can attach it to the outdoor countertop once you have secured the entire unit to the stand. Make sure to hide the wiring or any plumbing that you will do underneath it.
