Calculate your weight on a scale

Measure your present weight on an accurate scale. Place yourself against a wall or door and put a flat piece of cardboard on top of you. Ask someone to mark on the wall with the help of a pencil just on top of the cardboard. After that, measure its height in meters and centimetres or in feet and inches. Use any of these formulas for US units, depending on how the calculations were made that is BMI is equal to weight in lbs. times 703 divided by height in inches squared. On the other hand, you can also have BMI is equal to weight in lbs. times 4.88 divided by height in feet squared.  For instance a person weighs 172 lbs. and his height is 6 feet 1 inch tall. Then his BMI would be calculated as BMI = (172 X 703) / (73 X 73) = 120916 / 5329 = 22.7 rounded to one decimal place.

    BMI determined by metric units

Moreover, you can also find out BMI with the help of metric units with the given formula: BMI is equal to weight in kilograms divided by height in meters squared. If we use the same height and weight as in above, which is now 1.85 meters and 78.2 kilograms get you BMI is equal to 78.2 / (1.85 X 1.85) = 78.2 / 3.4 = 22.8 rounded to a one decimal point. Be aware of the fact that the metric result might be different from the US measure because of the rounding offs.
