How to Clean a Hairbrush and Comb

Does your hairbrush or a comb look like a bird’s nest? If yes, then you better clean it up. Many people find it difficult to wash the hair off these things, as they seem to be stuck with the roots of the products.

There is no need to press the panic button, as there are multiple ways of cleaning your hairbrush and comb. You just need to give a little time to these things and they will be as good as new.

Some people simply get irritated with the hair stuck to their comb and they either stop using it or throw it away. However, that is wastage of money and there are a few simple steps of how to clean these products.

Since the comb and hair brush are different in shape, they need to be cleaned in separate ways. We will start off with the comb first, as it is relatively easier.

Instructions

  • 1

Fill a bowl with warm water

The first step is to take a large bowl and fill it up with warm water, so that it does not burn your hands.

  • 2

    Add shampoo to the bowl

Right after filling the bowl with warm water, you are required to pour some shampoo in it. It should not be more than a few drops, as you are not supposed to make any lather with it.

If you do not want to use a shampoo, a bathing gel can also be used, but the quantity should remain the same.

  • 3

Put the comb in the bowl full of water

Now, place the comb into the water and wait for about 10 minutes before taking it out of the bowl.

  • 4

Pull the hair out with a cotton swab

Use a cotton pad to gently remove the hair off the comb. The shampoo will make the hair smooth and it will come off easily.

  • 5

Place the hairbrush in the same bowl of water

Now, it is time to clean the hairbrush. The initial steps are similar, as you need to place it in warm water mixed with shampoo. You can either use the same bowl of water or replace it; it’s totally up to you.

  • 6

Use the comb to clean off the hairbrush

After 10 minutes, grab the brush from its handle and keep the remaining part in the warm water. Now start scrubbing the brush with the comb, which you cleaned earlier, and there will be no hair left on the brush after a few minutes.

  • 7

Allow both the brush and comb to dry out

Once you are done with the cleaning, allow both products to dry out and they will be ready to use again.
