How to Clean a Microwave

You need to clean your microwave frequently to avoid any dirt from sticking to the walls. There are splatters of food or liquid inside the microwave which, if not taken care of, may result in a bad smell. Follow some simple guidelines to help you easily clean the microwave with basic household items.

Things required:

– Vinegar
– Large bowl
– Water
– Toothpick
– Sponges and dish towel

Instructions

  • 1

Fill the large bowl with water

First, fill a large microwave-safe bowl with water. Make sure you do not totally fill the bowl as you do not want the water to spill in the microwave. Taking a microwave-safe bowl for this purpose is extremely important as the bowl may burst inside the microwave when heat is applied.

  • 2

    Add vinegar to the water

Once you have filled the bowl, add a tablespoon of vinegar to it. You must stir the water with the help of a whisk so that the vinegar is completely dissolved in the water.

  • 3

Place the bowl in the microwave for five minutes

After stirring the mixture, place the bowl in the microwave and switch it on for five minutes. The walls inside the microwave will steam up and the dried up dirt will become easy to clean. After five minutes, remove the bowl from the microwave. Be careful as it will be hot.

    Wash the glass dish separately

Remove the glass dish from the microwave and wash it separately in the sink. Wash it as you clean any other dish with liquid soap and place it in the proper place to dry.

Clean the microwave with a sponge

Wipe the walls of the microwave with a sponge and remove all the dirt that was previously stuck. It should be a lot easier now to clean the inside of the microwave after using the steam from the vinegar water. You can use soapy water and rub it to make sure the walls remain clean. Use dish towels to dry the soapy water from the walls inside the microwave. Make sure you clean the sponge with water after using it on every wall.
