How to Clean Soap Scum from Dishes

When soap reacts with minerals in hot water, it creates soap scum. These can be very frustrating and looks bad. It makes your dishes appear cloudy and dull. Soft water can overcome this problem. Even the dishwasher cannot clean the soap scum.

In addition to this, some dishwasher causes soap scum on dishes. It builds-up soap scum in the dispenser jets of the dish washer. When water passes through dispenser, it passes the soap scum to dishes placed.

Things Required:

– White vinegar, lemon juice other acid cleaner
– Hot water
– Bleach

    Apply white vinegar

    Use white vinegar in order to get rid of soap scum on dishes. You need to take hot water and fill the sink with it. Then pour half cup of white vinegar into the hot water. Later place the dishes in the mixture and leave it until the soap scum disappears. After cleaning, rinse it with normal water and then dry. In case the soap scum is stubborn then you can add white vinegar to hot water with a 1:1 ratio.

    Lemon juice

    Lemon juice can also be use as an acid cleaner instead of white vinegar. You can use lemon juice in case white vinegar is not available. It also vanish the soap scum on your dishes.

    Acid cleaners

    You should use acid cleaners on the dishes covered with soap scum. Get acid cleaners which have oxalic acid, sulfuric acid or hydrochloric acid. However, apply these cleaners with caution so you do not damage the surface of your dishes. Remember to read the instructions written on the acid cleaner before using it.

    Apply bleach

    Add bleach in the sink filled with water. Then soak your dishes in the mixture. This will dissolve the soap scum on your dishes. However, remember to wash your dishes with care when using bleach. If the bleach mixtures falls on your clothes or any fabric nearby then it can fade away the colour.

    Soap scum dishes from a dishwasher

    In order to clean soap scum from dishes coming from a dishwasher then you need to first sprinkle baking soda on the part affected by soap scum. Then scrub the baking soda on the dish with help of a scrub brush. Later squeeze lemon on the dish with soap scum. Add vinegar after that and then scrub the surface again. In the end rinse it with water to clean the dish.
